That's right y'all! I used to be super cool when I worked on the TV show REBOOT!
Who remembers Reboot?
It was the first, ever, episodic 3d tv show and it was created right here in Vancouver. I had to beg for a job as a lowly "runner" (the owners were British and used this term for production assistant...basically the "grunts")
I wanted to be an animator so I took whatever job they were going to give me. I'd work an 8 hour shift then stay there to learn how to create 3d characters. It was brutal. The learning curve was steep. I was also 30 and everyone else in my position was 20. I felt ancient!
I eventually learned how to do some stuff but I also got pregnant and they had to promote me or fire me because pregnant women shouldn't be painting endless offices and hauling large water cooler bottles. ;)
I wasn't able to go back after the baby was born but Mainframe Entertainment left an indelible mark on my life. I still have many friends who I met while working there and have even worked on other projects through the years with them.
Next month a new documentary about Mainframe and Reboot is coming out and I'm there for all of it! The first few episodes are going to be on the big screen at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver on September 2nd. Who's coming with me?!
